xAI is seeking a Software Engineer to build and maintain systems for ensuring compliance and safeguarding users from threats like abuse, spam, and fraud. The role involves architecting scalable systems, collaborating cross-functionally, and delivering impactful code in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend/data systems for abuse detection and safety tooling
• Architect scalable distributed systems for event processing
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams
• Write code in Scala, Go, and Python
• Design and iterate on systems for safety and performance
• Potentially lead technical initiatives

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience (backend/data systems)
• Experience building and operating scalable software services
• Strong generalist skills in distributed systems
• Experience in 0-to-1 environments
