xAI is seeking a highly motivated engineer to contribute to the development of web-scale multimodal models. The role involves training large models, pushing boundaries in AI research, and implementing state-of-the-art deep learning methods. xAI values engineering excellence, curiosity, and a hands-on approach.

Responsibilities

• Train trillion parameter multimodal models
• Develop smaller specialized models
• Advance spatial-temporal compression and world modeling
• Implement state-of-the-art deep learning methods
• Innovate new pretraining ideas and scaling paradigms

Requirements

• Strong engineering skills with model-hardware co-design passion
• Expertise in ML and large model scaling
• Familiarity with distributed training and multi-GPU neural networks
• Experience optimizing ML training efficiency
• Knowledge of multimodal language models, especially image/video understanding
