Job Description

Nevados is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to develop the next generation of solar tracker technology. The role involves product ideation, concept development, prototyping, testing, and training, working on both new and existing product lines. The position requires local candidates for commute to the Oakland office and potential travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop product concepts and specifications
• Create detailed 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using SolidWorks
• Design components considering DFM requirements
• Conduct and participate in design reviews
• Develop test matrix, test plans and coordinate qualification of products
• Support continuous improvement initiatives
• Develop installation instructions and training documentation
• Review work of other engineers and provide mentorship

Requirements

• Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering
• 8+ years of experience in mechanical design
• 3+ years of experience in the solar industry
• Experience taking multiple products into mass production
• Proficiency with SolidWorks
• Understanding of GD&T and Tolerance analysis
• Understanding of DFM requirements
• Familiarity with metal coatings and environmental testing
• Strong analytical skills
• Hands-on experience with assembly and hand tools
• Effective communication skills
• Detail-oriented
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Experience with PLM, preferably Arena
