Job Description

Lumos is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and implementation of their next-generation Workflows & Notifications Platform. This role involves building infrastructure for real-time messaging, task orchestration, and seamless user communication within their Identity Governance product.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of event-driven notifications and workflow systems
• Own and evolve core architecture for multi-channel messaging
• Design developer-friendly APIs for triggering and managing messages
• Implement observability and auditing tooling
• Collaborate with platform and infra teams for integration
• Build internal tooling for composing and deploying workflows
• Drive improvements in workflow lifecycle management

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a backend or platform engineer
• Experience building event-driven systems, workflow orchestration, or notifications infrastructure
• Knowledge of asynchronous architectures (message queues, state machines)
• Strong backend skills in Python, Go, or TypeScript
• Experience building multi-channel messaging systems
• Familiarity with compliance and governance use cases
• Track record of designing developer platforms or infrastructure
