This role involves overseeing a globally distributed team and collaborating with engineering, product, and business teams to scale Upwork’s platform capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead global operations for core infrastructure platforms
• Define and execute the roadmap for secure, multi-tenant infrastructure
• Drive automation for build and release processes
• Oversee platform-wide observability
• Partner with AI platform teams
• Recruit, mentor, and scale a high-performing team
• Represent infrastructure operations in strategic planning

Requirements

• 10+ years in software engineering with 3+ years leading infrastructure teams
• Deep technical expertise in cloud-native systems, Kubernetes, CI/CD
• Experience designing and scaling AI/ML platforms
• Success in building reusable, self-service platforms
• Growth-minded leader with communication and collaboration skills
