Job Description

The VP, Head of Analytics, Data Science & Pricing will lead Upwork’s data strategy, insights, and pricing initiatives to accelerate growth and shape the company’s strategy. This role involves leading teams focused on data science, corporate analytics, customer insights, research, and pricing, partnering with various departments to understand the future of work and leverage AI.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute analytics, insights, and pricing strategy
• Lead a central analytics organization
• Elevate modeling and quantitative capabilities
• Strengthen and scale the pricing function
• Partner with Data Engineering and AI teams
• Oversee marketplace and customer analytics
• Drive integration of new technologies
• Lead a team of economists
• Translate analytics into actionable narratives
• Foster a culture of curiosity and insight-driven decision-making

Requirements

• Proven success leading analytics, insights, data science, or pricing functions
• Deep understanding of applied economics, pricing, and marketplace dynamics
• Ability to connect analytics, research, and AI to strategy
• Expertise in experimental design, econometrics, and research methodologies
• Experience building and leading diverse teams
• Exceptional communication and storytelling skills
