Job Description

The NYISO is seeking a full-time Economist to analyze the design, structure, behavior, and outcomes of bulk electric power markets to ensure competitive solutions. The role involves analyzing market data, interpreting economic trends, developing methods for data reporting, and providing recommendations to management and regulators.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze NYISO markets and proposed changes
  • Serve as a staff representative on economic issues
  • Interpret economic and statistical data
  • Evaluate economic decisions by market participants
  • Develop data collection and reporting procedures
  • Analyze economic data and prepare reports
  • Formulate recommendations and policies
  • Prepare affidavits for NYISO filings
  • Conduct research on economics, financing, and accounting
  • Summarize findings in memos and presentations

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Economics (PhD desired)
  • Five years of related experience
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical and legal documents
  • Advanced mathematical skills
  • Problem-solving and data analysis skills
  • Intermediate MS Office skills
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language
