Job Description

The NYISO is seeking a full-time Economist to help shape the future structure of New York’s wholesale electricity markets. This role involves leveraging microeconomic theory, econometric methods, and analytical rigor to collaborate with stakeholders and develop innovative market designs that align reliability, economic efficiency, and public policy goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop models of NYISO markets
  • Analyze NYISO data
  • Evaluate market design proposals
  • Lead development of data analysis techniques
  • Prepare market design reports
  • Assess impacts to consumers
  • Mentor Market Design staff
  • Review ISO/RTO market features
  • Monitor regulatory policies
  • Represent NYISO in industry forums

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or related field
  • Master’s or Doctorate degree preferred
  • Five years’ related experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Competency in MS Office applications
  • Knowledge of electric power utility industry and/or competitive markets
  • Experience with statistical and econometric techniques
