Job Description

The NYISO is seeking a full-time Market Design Specialist to act as a technical expert in the design, modification, and implementation of market rules. This role involves collaboration with stakeholders, research, development of business requirements, and presentation of market designs. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated professional with experience managing priorities and vendor relationships.

Responsibilities

• Analyze NYISO markets for improvements
• Gather stakeholder feedback
• Analyze market evolution recommendations
• Lead product-based solution development
• Prepare presentations and reports
• Facilitate rule change negotiations
• Develop campaign strategies
• Write tariff modifications
• Support business analysts
• Ensure market documents are current
• Present to senior management
• Support strategic objectives
• Understand NYISO regulatory structure
• Review other ISO/RTO markets
• Act as primary contact for market participants
• Represent NYISO in industry forums

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations Research, Finance, Economics or related field
• Master’s Degree preferred
• 2+ years NYISO experience or 3+ years energy industry experience
• Understanding of power industry/commodity markets
• Business experience in electric power systems or wholesale electric markets
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office and statistical analysis software
• Ability to summarize and visualize complex data
