Job Description

The NYISO is seeking full-time Associate Operators to join their Grid Operations group. This role involves supporting regional markets initiatives, monitoring and coordinating power flows, and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of electricity across New York State. The position requires working in a state-of-the-art control center and collaborating with other reliability coordinators to optimize grid operations and maintain system reliability.

Responsibilities

• Identify unscheduled power flows
• Initiate control actions to mitigate power flows
• Implement transaction modifications
• Monitor inter-regional transactions
• Coordinate with external areas
• Monitor tie line flows
• Analyze computer output data
• Maintain detailed logs
• Ensure compliance with NERC standards

Requirements

• No industry experience required, technical training preferred
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to learn complex concepts
• Associate’s degree in electrical technology or related field desired
• Ability to read and interpret operational documents
• Intermediate Windows and MS Office skills
• Must complete NYISO Operator Course and NERC certification
