Job Description

The Data Center Operations Technician – Tier III is a senior technical role responsible for the full lifecycle management, operation, and optimization of LightEdge data center environments. This position oversees day-to-day workflow scheduling, ensures adherence to best practices, and serves as a subject matter expert across multiple core infrastructure domains.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage building systems (power, HVAC, security, fire suppression)
• Install servers and networking equipment
• Support new client service installations
• Receive and process shipments
• Respond to and resolve alarms
• Follow Change Control processes
• Assist with rack and cage layout
• Support after-hours on-call rotation
• Coordinate vendor maintenance
• Assist with IT hardware installations
• Share technical knowledge
• Operate complex electrical systems
• Support BMS/EMS systems
• Act as backup for Datacenter Operations Manager
• Create and enforce standard operating procedures
• Schedule work assignments
• Lead cross-training initiatives
• Conduct facility inspections
• Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
• Facilitate data center tours
• Mentor Tier I and Tier II technicians
• Perform advanced cabling installations
• Ensure facility availability, security, and reliability

Requirements

• Two-year technical degree or 8-10 years equivalent experience
• Expertise in security/biometrics, CMDB, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, BMS, and environmental systems
• Experience with BMS/EMS monitoring
• Proficiency with Ethernet, telephone, CAT6, and fiber cabling
• Experience operating complex electrical systems
• Understanding of data center cooling systems
• Ability to document policies and procedures
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
