Job Description

The Data Center Technician supports the ongoing monitoring and daily management of building systems and physical infrastructure at Lightedge facilities, utilizing standard operating procedures for maintenance and optimization of power, HVAC, security, and fire suppression systems. This role requires compliance with building codes and company audit requirements, and participation in an on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot data center equipment problems
• Install servers and networking equipment
• Facilitate new client service installations
• Receive and document shipments
• Respond to and resolve alarm events
• Follow Change Control processes and MOPs
• Assist in design, installation, and documentation of racks and cages
• Support preventative maintenance and break/fix activity
• Maintain knowledge of physical infrastructure and building systems
• Resolve cabinet/cage infrastructure issues
• Ensure operational efficiencies and uptime
• Share technical knowledge with team members

Requirements

• Two-year technical degree or 1-4 years equivalent experience
• Network cabling termination experience (Ethernet, CAT6, Fiber)
• Experience with data center maintenance activities
• Familiarity with telco central office equipment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Working knowledge of electricity
• Understanding of data center cooling systems
• Ability to multitask and prioritize
• Strong communication skills
• Problem-solving and analytical skills
• Experience documenting policies and procedures
