Job Description

LightEdge is seeking an experienced technical individual for an IBMi – SR Engineer position. The role involves understanding client requirements, technical design, solution implementation, documentation, and communication. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining and administering Power (IBMi servers, multiple partitions) and related networking equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support IBMi platform
  • Maintain and deploy OS upgrades and PTF installations
  • Design and maintain IBM iSeries backups
  • Perform tuning and capacity planning
  • Provide tier-3 support
  • Assist with object implementations
  • Manage multiple work streams
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support
  • Understand and recommend IBM OS400 system and user security
  • Provide technical support and training
  • Configure partitions and systems using HMC
  • Interface with vendor support

Requirements

  • 10+ years hands-on experience in IBM Power environment
  • Knowledge of AS/400 system administration and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of AS400 High Availability setup
  • Knowledge of Mimix replication software
  • Knowledge of Help Systems tools
  • Knowledge of network protocols and troubleshooting
  • Skill in solving technically challenging problems
  • Skill in prioritizing and balancing multiple tasks
  • Skill in establishing cooperative working relationships
  • Skill in providing excellent customer service
  • Skill in working in a teamwork environment
