Job Description

Quizlet is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead architectural efforts for their identity, messaging, and trust & safety platforms. This role involves designing secure and scalable systems for authentication, consent, and privacy, while mentoring other engineers and influencing cross-team initiatives. The position is onsite in San Francisco, requiring a minimum of three days a week in the office.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture for authentication, authorization, and account management systems
• Build frameworks for consent management, secure messaging, and user protection
• Modernize legacy systems for scalability, observability, and compliance
• Partner with product, legal, and data teams to align trust & safety priorities
• Mentor engineers and define long-term technical standards

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend/platform engineering experience in identity or trust systems
• Demonstrated success leading cross-functional technical initiatives
• Strong knowledge of secure system design and data protection
• Hands-on experience with Go, Python, or TypeScript
• Ability to influence technical direction and mentor peers
