Job Description

We’re looking for a Consulting Pre-Sales Systems Engineer who brings the rare combination of Field CTO-level vision, enterprise architecture depth, and exceptional customer empathy. This role will guide State, Local, and Education (SLED) agencies across the greater Austin region through modernization, hybrid-cloud adoption, and data-driven transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Act as role model and mentor for other Systems Engineers
  • Provide technical leadership and support
  • Understand customer's business and decision-making
  • Create social media content
  • Connect technology solutions to customer business outcomes
  • Partner with account managers to drive revenue growth
  • Refine sales strategy and tactics
  • Deliver technical leadership and domain expertise
  • Undertake presentations and demonstrations
  • Capture requirements and translate business needs into solutions
  • Contribute to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs
  • Seek out and spur new opportunities for testing/validation
  • Promote roadmap and planning exchanges
  • Produce materials that support alliance plans
  • Stay current with competition
  • Move with market trends and competitive landscape
  • Be seen as the solution expert in complex POC and TCO calculations

Requirements

  • BS in CS, EE or other technical degree
  • Pre-sales experience
  • 8 or more years of relevant experience
  • Creativity, empathy, open mind, curiosity
  • Deep understanding of multi-tiered computing solutions
  • Familiarity with modern web architecture
  • Prior experience targeting new prospects
  • Superior knowledge of storage architectures
  • Strong knowledge of digital transformation
  • Previous experience with Linux and NFS file systems
  • Installation/configuration of distributed computing
  • Knowledge of VMware, networking
  • Curiosity and passion around technology
  • Familiarity with AWS, Azure, GCP
  • Familiarity with containers, k8s, and microservices
  • Familiarity with storage-intensive applications
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills
