Job Description

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a skilled Equipment Controls Engineer to develop, commission, and improve manufacturing equipment for next-generation eVTOL powertrain technologies. The role involves designing and integrating control systems in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring safe and reliable equipment operation.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems
• Develop and optimize control logic for manufacturing systems
• Integrate equipment with MES systems
• Build and support LabVIEW-based test stands
• Develop and maintain vision-system-based inspection machines
• Support equipment for power electronics, motors, and battery systems
• Interpret machine behavior and sensor data
• Participate in equipment commissioning and troubleshooting
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Document software and machine logic

Requirements

• 4–6 years of experience as a Controls Engineer
• Strong PLC programming proficiency (Structured Text)
• Hands-on experience with Bosch drives and motion control equipment
• Experience with MES systems and PLC-to-MES communication (Ignition preferred)
• Experience with LabVIEW machines
• Familiarity with vision inspection systems
• Experience in high-mix, low-volume production
• Ability to read electrical schematics
• Strong troubleshooting and teamwork skills
