Job Description

Newsweek is seeking a Senior Director of IT and Info Systems to oversee the company’s technology operations, including all systems, policies, security, and infrastructure. This role reports to the CTO and leads multiple teams across the organization, requiring a strong technical background and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all technology operations
  • Develop and implement IT strategy
  • Lead IT systems, security, infrastructure, and support teams
  • Establish and maintain IT policies and standards
  • Analyze business requirements and determine technology needs
  • Purchase equipment and software
  • Identify upgrades and new systems
  • Manage Help Desk, cybersecurity, and IT staff
  • Manage IT budget
  • Build vendor relationships and contracts
  • Partner with internal teams to enhance tools
  • Plan and manage IT budget, resources, and contracts
  • Monitor IT performance and risks
  • Stay updated with IT trends
  • Collaborate with management and stakeholders
  • Provide guidance and mentoring

Requirements

  • BS/BA in computer science, engineering, or relevant field; MS/MA is a plus
  • 12+ years of experience in IT management, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role
  • Proven experience as a Head of IT/Info Systems
  • Experience in IT systems analysis, implementation, and evaluation
  • Strong experience in hardware/software systems, networks, IT security, and IT infrastructure
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale IT projects
  • Experience in budget development and management
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize effectively
  • ITIL, PMP, CISSP, CISM, CISA certifications preferred
  • Experience working with a media or publishing company preferred
