Job Description

Newsweek is seeking a Director of Data and Analytics to lead their data strategy and manage a team of data professionals. This role involves transforming data into actionable insights, overseeing the analytics and BI ecosystem, and preparing to integrate data science and engineering skillsets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analytics, leadership experience, and expertise in both Microsoft and Google data solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a data analytics and BI team
  • Define data strategy and roadmap
  • Establish departmental goals and KPIs
  • Champion a data-driven culture
  • Oversee audience analysis using tools like Google Analytics, Comscore, and SimilarWeb
  • Direct the creation of dashboards and reports using Power BI and Google data solutions
  • Translate data findings into actionable insights
  • Partner with content, marketing, product, and sales teams
  • Architect and oversee the data ecosystem
  • Lead the implementation of data platforms
  • Develop and enforce data governance policies
  • Evaluate new data technologies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field
  • 5-6 years of experience in data and analytics
  • 2-3 years of leadership experience managing a team
  • Experience building and managing analytics or BI teams
  • Deep expertise with Microsoft (Power BI, Fabric) and Google (Analytics, BigQuery) ecosystems
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
