Job Description

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a highly skilled Principal Environmental, Health and Safety Engineer to oversee safety strategies for the SPARC and ARC fusion power projects. This role involves ensuring compliance with regulations, reviewing safety guidance, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and implementing safety standards throughout the projects' lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for safe engineering design
• Review and update safety guidance
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
• Conduct risk assessments
• Manage safety programs for SPARC and ARC projects
• Conduct incident investigations
• Lead action plans for emergency situations
• Collaborate with EHS and Security teams
• Promote safety culture through training
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies
• Supervise team members involved in safety initiatives

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field
• 15+ years of progressive experience in safety, 5+ in leadership
• In-depth knowledge of safety codes and regulations
• Experience implementing safety strategies for complex projects
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Demonstrated leadership abilities
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Dedication to safety in industrial environments
