Job Description

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a motivated metrology engineer to develop and qualify mechanical inspection techniques for hardware used in the SPARC project. This role involves collaboration with various teams to ensure design requirements are met and establishing robust processes and systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop advanced mechanical inspection techniques
• Qualify and document inspection techniques
• Collaborate with quality and manufacturing engineers
• Assist in evaluating new metrology equipment
• Maintain metrology equipment
• Provide design for inspection input
• Perform routine inspections
• Summarize and present inspection results
• Design and procure fixturing

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing or a field environment
• Experience developing advanced metrology techniques
• Experience presenting technical information
• Interpretation of mechanical drawings and GD&T
• Knowledge of standard machining processes
• Experience programming metrology equipment
• CAD design experience
• CMM programming experience
• Experience using portable metrology equipment
• Knowledge of basic quality systems requirements
• Ability to utilize Atlassian productivity tools
