The scientist will coordinate with a multi-institutional team to develop and improve an integrated modeling toolset, and employ that toolset for experimental planning and analysis on SPARC, contributing to physics design and optimization of ARC.

Responsibilities

  • Refine, optimize, and validate integrated modeling toolset
  • Incorporate state-of-the-art physics capabilities
  • Employ modeling tools to plan and execute plasma pulses
  • Identify and improve operational scenarios
  • Work with physics, diagnostics, operations, and software teams
  • Contribute to physics design and optimization of ARC

Requirements

  • PhD in plasma physics or related discipline
  • 2+ years post-PhD experience in magnetic fusion
  • Experience with fusion plasma simulation and modeling software
  • Experience in planning, executing, or analyzing fusion experiments
  • Expertise in magnetic fusion experiment and simulation
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
