Job Description

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Manager for the Diagnostic Support Equipment (DSE) team. This role involves team leadership, individual contributions to hardware delivery, and facilitating solutions between instrumentation systems. The Manager will oversee the design, fabrication, and installation of support equipment for the SPARC tokamak, ensuring on-schedule completion of commissioning and operations milestones.

Responsibilities

• Identify solutions for instrumentation team challenges
• Verify designs of Diagnostic Support Equipment systems
• Ensure completion of DSE design and communicate risks
• Manage PASY/SASY completion and safety concerns
• Provide line-management support to the DSE team
• Maintain communication with non-DSE systems
• Reduce complexity in SPARC Diagnostics through shared design
• Manage scope, budget, and schedule risk
• Ensure timely delivery of DSE components
• Supervise a team of ~10 engineers and scientists

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering field
• Experience in design, fabrication, and installation of equipment
• Prior line management or leadership experience
• Ability to direct staff on complex tasks
• Budget management skills
• Ability to maintain productivity with context switching
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
• Willingness to travel or work nights/weekends
• Ability to work in an industrial environment
