Job Description

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a hands-on Equipment Engineer to join their R&D team, focusing on building and maintaining high-vacuum systems used in thin-film deposition technology. The role requires strong technical skills, procedural discipline, and collaboration to ensure safe and reliable equipment operation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead installation, startup, commissioning, and qualification of systems
  • Develop and maintain procedures (SOPs, PM schedules, LOTO)
  • Train and mentor equipment technicians
  • Collaborate with engineers and facilities teams
  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Implement upgrades and retrofits
  • Track equipment uptime and performance metrics
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience with semiconductor or thin-film deposition equipment
  • Strong background in vacuum systems
  • Ability to write and implement procedures
  • Hands-on experience with equipment startup
  • Proven ability to train technical staff
  • Effective communication and troubleshooting skills
  • Commitment to safety and documentation
