Job Description

Pareto Health is seeking a detail-oriented Underwriter to assess and manage risks associated with self-funded and fully insured health plans, utilizing stoploss insurance. The role involves analyzing health risks, developing stoploss strategies, and supporting the underwriting process for prospective captive members.

Responsibilities

• Support underwriting process for stoploss offerings
• Conduct risk assessments of prospective captive members
• Analyze healthcare data to forecast risks
• Collaborate with Sales team to provide financial information
• Adapt to working with incomplete information
• Stay informed about market dynamics
• Enhance underwriting skills under senior guidance
• Participate in training on medical treatments and costs
• Ensure adherence to industry standards and legal requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, actuarial science, or related field
• 2-3 years of underwriting experience, preferably with stoploss insurance exposure
• Proficiency in underwriting software, data analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to analyze data and identify trends
• Good communication and negotiation skills
• Team player with collaborative skills
• Basic understanding of stoploss products, self-funding, and healthcare industry trends
