Job Description

Muon is seeking a Senior Mission Lead Systems Engineer to lead the technical aspects of a specific mission, from concept to on-orbit operations. This role involves customer interaction, requirements development, system modeling, risk management, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure mission success. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, communicate effectively, and contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead mission conceptualization, design, and development
• Tailor and implement the Muon mission design process
• Translate customer objectives into technical requirements
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact
• Manage requirements traceability, verification, and validation
• Define mission CONOPS and manage subsystem budgets
• Identify and mitigate mission risks
• Assess and coordinate design changes
• Lead design, test readiness, and flight readiness reviews
• Monitor on-orbit spacecraft and data pipelines
• Provide technical direction to systems, hardware, software, and operations teams
• Contribute to engineering process improvement

Requirements

• M.S. or higher in engineering with 8+ years of experience
• Prior experience as a Mission Lead Systems Engineer
• Extensive experience in system modeling and simulations
• Proven history of system integration and delivery
• Experience managing requirements for multi-disciplinary projects
• Demonstrated project management skills
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance
