Job Description

Cultivarium is seeking an AI Intern to build, fine-tune, and evaluate vision language models (VLMs) in a scientific research environment. The intern will focus on developing machine vision applications using LLMs, VLMs, and VLAs to automate laboratory documentation and translate procedures into robotic actions.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and annotate training datasets
• Fine-tune VLMs and evaluate model performance
• Identify model limitations and opportunities for improvement
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code
• Summarize and present work
• Commit to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness

Requirements

• Expertise in VLMs, machine vision, VLA models, object recognition, LLMs, robotics
• Experience with video dataset annotation platforms (Roboflow, V7)
• Experience fine-tuning and evaluating VLMs (Qwen, ViTPose++, YOLO, DETR)
• Coding ability in Python
• Interest in Biology
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment
• Creative problem-solving skills
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
