Job Description

Diligent is seeking a highly skilled Staff Systems Engineer with expertise in VMware, Linux, and automation to design, maintain, and optimize their private cloud environments. This is a hands-on senior role focused on improving reliability, scalability, and efficiency through automation and infrastructure modernization, collaborating with various engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and maintain VMware-based private cloud infrastructure
• Automate infrastructure operations using PowerCLI, Ansible, Python, or similar tools
• Administer and optimize Linux and Windows Server operating systems
• Integrate and maintain Active Directory
• Collaborate with network and security teams
• Support and maintain F5 BIG-IP and AVI
• Ensure system availability, performance, and security
• Participate in on-call rotations and change control processes
• Document architecture, procedures, and automations
• Mentor junior engineers

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in systems engineering or infrastructure roles, with 5+ years at a senior or staff level
• Expert proficiency in VMware vSphere
• Advanced Linux administration skills
• Strong understanding of Windows Server and Active Directory
• Demonstrated experience building automation frameworks
• Hands-on experience in enterprise datacenter environments
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, email infrastructure, DNS, VPNs, and firewall concepts
• Experience working with F5 BIG-IP or similar ADC platforms
• Familiarity with configuration management, version control, and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
