BambooHR is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to contribute to the design, performance, and reliability of their backend systems, with a strong focus on database engineering and optimization. The role involves leading SQL Server development, optimizing queries, and ensuring data integrity while collaborating with cross-functional teams and integrating AI tools into the workflow.

Responsibilities

• Lead SQL Server database development
• Optimize database queries and indexes
• Monitor database health and implement tuning strategies
• Design and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs
• Collaborate with product, QA, and frontend teams
• Ensure data integrity, reliability, and security
• Identify and implement process improvements
• Integrate AI tools into workflow
• Conduct query reviews and trainings

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend/database development experience
• Strong SQL Server proficiency
• Experience with database monitoring and administration
• Familiarity with SqlServer transactions and Read Committed Snapshot Isolation
• Service development experience in C#, PHP, Java, or Python
• Solid understanding of OOP and software design principles
• Experience with Git
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows
