Job Description

As a CGS Paralegal, you will provide litigation and administrative support to a group of United States Attorneys. The role involves collecting fines, drafting legal documents, preparing legal processes, managing databases, assisting with trial preparation, and maintaining case files. Responsibilities

  • Collects restitutions and fines
  • Drafts and files legal documents
  • Prepares garnishments and liens
  • Sends demand letters and prepares subpoenas
  • Manages collection activity in a database
  • Completes fact research
  • Prepares legal documents using templates
  • Performs document center support
  • Assists with trial preparation
  • Manages case files
  • Maintains calendars
  • Assists with discovery
  • Maintains case material using software
  • Prepares mail
  • Files pleadings
  • Completes travel arrangements

Requirements

  • Paralegal certificate, JD, or ABA-accredited law school enrollment (1+ year)
  • One year of legal training/experience or two years of college education
  • One year of litigation paralegal experience
  • Automated litigation support experience
  • Basic legal knowledge and research skills (LEXIS/Westlaw)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications (word processing, databases, spreadsheets)
  • Familiarity with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures
