Job Description

As a CGS Paralegal, you will provide litigation and administrative support to a group of United States Attorneys. The role involves collecting fines, drafting legal documents, preparing legal processes, managing databases, assisting with trial preparation, and maintaining case files. Responsibilities

  • Collects court ordered restitutions and fines
  • Drafts and files legal documents
  • Prepares garnishments, liens, and subpoenas
  • Manages collection activity in a database
  • Conducts fact research
  • Prepares legal documents like motions and memoranda
  • Provides trial preparation assistance
  • Maintains case files and calendars
  • Assists with discovery
  • Manages case material using software
  • Handles mail and prepares shipments
  • Completes travel arrangements

Requirements

  • Paralegal certificate, JD, or enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school (1+ year)
  • One year of legal training/experience or two years of college education
  • One year of litigation paralegal experience
  • Automated litigation support experience
  • Basic legal knowledge and research skills (LEXIS, Westlaw)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications (word processing, databases, spreadsheets)
  • Familiarity with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures
