Job Description

Cortex is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to build a new category of developer tooling. This role involves solving technical problems, addressing scalability issues, and maintaining core backend systems while collaborating with product and support engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems
• Build new features and enhance existing ones
• Optimize performance, reliability, and scalability
• Conduct code reviews
• Participate in production operations and incident response
• Write clean, testable code
• Partner with engineering, product, and customers
• Improve planning, development, and deployment processes

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of backend application development experience
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud computing
• Experience with data storage solutions (MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB)
• Knowledge of web development best practices
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to mentor junior engineers
