Job Description

Workato is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to focus on contributing to the MCP ecosystem. This role involves deep engagement with the community, building and maintaining open-source tooling, and representing Workato as a technical voice. The position offers the opportunity to work on challenging problems like identity, governance, and multi-tenancy, with enterprise backing and resources.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the MCP specification and reference implementations
• Build and maintain open-source MCP servers and tooling
• Participate in community discussions and help others
• Represent Workato in the MCP community
• Advise on architecture for exposing Workato connectors as MCP servers
• Shape developer experience for MCP
• Identify infrastructure contributions for the domain
• Maintain strong relationships within the MCP community

Requirements

• 5–7+ years of professional software development experience
• Active contributor to the MCP ecosystem
• Strong software engineering skills in Python or TypeScript
• Existing relationships within the MCP community
• Track record of publicly writing, discussing, reviewing, and helping
• Experience shipping products and understanding developer tools
