Job Description

Hatch is seeking an Engineering Manager, Embedded to lead the embedded engineering team responsible for the firmware of their connected sleep products. This role involves both people management and technical leadership, overseeing the firmware development lifecycle from concept to release and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with direct reports
• Establish team expectations and goals
• Understand the firmware codebase
• Own firmware development and release process
• Improve tools and workflows
• Partner with backend, mobile, and QA teams
• Champion engineering best practices
• Drive firmware project execution
• Lead architectural and design reviews
• Evolve the firmware roadmap

Requirements

• 10+ years of firmware engineering experience
• 5+ years in a leadership role
• Hands-on leadership style
• Deep knowledge of firmware development for connected/IoT devices
• Experience with ESP32/FreeRTOS (plus)
• Experience leading end-to-end firmware development cycles
• Experience managing engineers
• Interest in leveraging AI tools
• Strong communication skills
• Hardware design experience (plus)
