Job Description

SoundCloud is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their Platform Enablement team. This role involves developing and optimizing data models, ETL/ELT workflows, and data pipelines to support various initiatives across the company, including marketing technology, privacy, and observability. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL skills, experience with Apache Airflow, and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize SQL data models and queries
• Design and maintain ETL/ELT workflows using Apache Airflow
• Collaborate with analysts and business teams
• Own and enhance data quality and validation processes
• Build and maintain reporting layers
• Troubleshoot and tune SQL performance
• Contribute to data architecture decisions
• Mentor junior engineers

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering
• Expert-level SQL skills
• Proven experience with Apache Airflow
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures
• Knowledge of data governance
• Understanding observability practices
• Experience with cloud environments (GCP, AWS)
• Excellent communication skills
